Club Notes May 14th 2012

The seniors came away from Sunday’s game with the points after a grueling contest against Kildress in the most trying of circumstances. 

Well done to all those involved for they way they dealt with the task. Our strong reserve team also secured the points in another tough encounter. Next up its Greencastle at home at 2.15 and 3.45 this Sunday.

The minor’s next game is against Strabane on Friday night, 18th May, away at 7.30. The U16 boys had another good win over Dromore last Saturday and now take on Omagh away on Saturday, May 19th, at 7pm and Errigal Ciaran away on Monday night, 21st at 7pm.

The U-14’s next fixture is listed at being Dromore at home on Thursday night, May 17th. Training for U12 boys continues on Mondays and Thursdays in Magilligan at 7pm.

The Thursday night youth coaching continues this week for under 8’s and under 10’s from 7 -8pm at Pairc Colmcille. We will not be able to attend the boys and girls U-10 blitz’s this week due to Holy Communion.

A ruling has been passed within the association that the wearing of gum-shields will be compulsory for all age groups from U-18 down.

The outdoor phase of FUN-damentals continues for parents and children at 7pm on Thursday nights at Pairc Colmcille.  It is imperative that a parent attends with each child and remains for the duration of the session. Guidelines laid down in the GAA Child Protection Policies and Procedures mean that this is compulsory. From now on children can not attend without a parent.

Our next club quiz is this Friday night, 18th May, in the Old Charm Inn at 9pm. £5 entry per person. Let’s get there and support this in numbers as it is a valuable source of funds for our club.

The next major fundraiser, in association with the handball club, is the innovative concept of ‘Red and Black’. Anyone interested in helping with ticket sales please get in touch with a committee member.

The club would like to pay our deepest respect to the families of the following who passed away recently. Brian Tanney, Mick Grimes, Paul Hughes, Mary Corey, Peg Donnelly, Mark Laverty, Kathleen Kelly, Malachy Devlin and Aíne Kilpatrick.

An Charraig Mhór Ladies.   

The senior ladies defeated Aodh Ruadh in the league on Friday night at the MUSA in an extremely tough encounter with many of the exchanges more akin to those normally seen at the Aviva Stadium.

All attention is now focused on the championship clash with Cill Iseal next Tuesday 22nd at a time and venue TBC. All support appreciated.

The Minor girls continue to train for their County Final which is pencilled in for Saturday 2nd June.  Time and venue to be confirmed.Training continues for U14 girls as advised. Their match against Clann na nGael had to be called off due to rain on Monday evening and is to be rescheduled.  

Well done to U12 girls on Saturday as they played very well against Fr Rocks.  Training continues as advised Training for U12 girls continues on Wednesday evening.

Coaching for U8 and U10 girls continues on Thursday evening at Pairc Colmcille from 7-8pm. To ensure safety parents/guardians are to collect their child at the gate.  Children will not be allowed across the car park.
