Club Notes February 6th 2012

The U16 boys had a very worthwhile challenge match with Pomeroy last Sunday and continue to train as advised. U14 boys also traveled to a challenge match on Sunday and are out on Saturday mornings at the youth club 

The U16 boys had a very worthwhile challenge match with Pomeroy last Sunday and continue to train as advised. U14 boys also traveled to a challenge match on Sunday and are out on Saturday mornings at the youth club  -  10am to 11.30am. Minor girls have also started training  -  Tuesday and Thursdays at 6 – 7pm at Pairc Colmcille and 10-11am on Sunday morning at Fr Magilligan.

FUN-damentals for P1 and P2 children has had to be changed to Tues nights in the ‘Dean’ and starts with a parents night on 7th Feb and continues with 6 more weeks of coaching. A parent must accompany each child.

A Special Needs Gaelic Football Coaching Programme commences in Killyclogher Parish Hall at 5.30pm to 6.30pm on 15th February, Age Group : 12 to Adult.

The clubs quiz night will be on hold until 2nd March due to clash with Scor and the presentation night. The club will be hosting the semi-final of Scor Sinsear in Dean Maguirc College on Fri Feb 10th at 8pm. All help appreciated with the event.

A second and last Registration night for all members to pay their membership will take place on this 20th Feb  from 7 – 9.30 pm. It vital that all players register on or before this night. Failure to do so means they can not participate in training or matches as they will not be insured to do so. The onus is not on the committee to seek out those who have not paid but on the individual. Membership is £20 for adults and £5 for children. Registration forms are now available for download from the website (Latest News on home page) to cut down on time filling out forms on the night.

The Nally Gym has new arrangements in place for payment. Those attending need to fill out an envelope with their name, put the money in the envelope and put it in the box. Members of An Charraig Mhór GFC pay £2.50 per session and non club members £5 per session.

Presentation Night will be held on Feb 18th when we will honour our Senior Ladies and our President for 2012 Packie Mc Philips. Tickets are available from committee members, cost £15.

Key dates this year also included the Summer Camp which will be on the week beginning July 9th. Also in the pipeline is the Paudie O’Sé Tournament with our ladies senior team travelling to Kerry for that weekend at the end of February.

The club are supporting the Termonmaguirc Pioneer Council in their temporary Lenten pledge initiative which encourages people to give up alcohol as part of their Lenten penance. As we all know proper lifestyle management including the control of alcohol intake are all vitally important if our young sportsmen and women want to achieve their full potential as footballers.

The club would like to pay our deepest respect to the families of the following who passed away recently, Kathleen Mc Callan, Margaret Slane, Frank Mc Caffrey and Peggy Mc Aleer.
