Club Notes December 5th 2011

The AGM took place last Sunday with one of the biggest turnouts in years. Thanks to our outgoing President Anna Mc Caughey and congratulations to Packie Mc Philips our President for 2012.

Thanks also to our outgoing committee members for their work and dedication last year. See press for full report. Good luck to our set dancers who will represent the club and county in the Ulster semi-final on Friday 9th December in Dun Uladh at 7.30.  Orla McCrystal, Aisling Mullan, Maeve McCallan, Leanne McKernan, Aideen Fox, Grace Fox, Orla Mullan and Shannon Kelly have already done themselves, their families and the club proud but hopefully they can go one step further towards an Ulster title.

‘Come Dine with Carmen’ kicked of last weekend. Many hosts welcomed their guests on Friday and Saturday nights. So far the response has been very positive with guest reporting on great food and even better craic. Some of the cooking, eating and guest scoring was caught on camera by Eilish Gormley and Aoife Mc Guone.

Footage will be edited and shown at a ‘final night’ when the winner will be announced. Latest reports suggest that Etaoine O’Kane is propping up the score table with Ryan Mc Callan leading the way after dishing up a gourmet delight of ‘des haricots sur toast’.

With last place taken up Michael Herron can rest easy as he prepares to entertain his guests at Malabhui this weekend. This initiative was initially intended to run to 10th Dec but a snowballing of interest may see it extended well into the new year.

So for those who are considering it there is still the opportunity to get involved. Anyone interested please get in touch with coordinators Etaoine O’Kane 07704913303 or Eilish Gormley 07769266002. The prize for the winning host is a 200 euro voucher for Mc Nean house, leading restaurant of chef Neven Maguire, in Blacklion.

This presents a chance for all club members to do their part in raising much needed finance in a new and novel way whilst having a great night.

Youth Presentation Night will take place in the Patrician on Wednesday evening 14th December at 7pm.  U8, U10, U12 and U13 Boys and their parents and coaches are invited to attend as well as our U10, U12, U16 girls with their parents and coaches.  We also invite our Scor na nOg participants, their parents and mentors.  Food/refreshments will be served.
