On Saturday we played host to a visiting team from Tullamore, Co. Offaly with a challenge match against our junior side at 3:15 at Pairc Colmcille. An entertaining game played in great spirit by both sides saw the Carmen side demonstrate how much they have developed since the start of the season. We had a great evening’s craic with our guests, but once sad point of the day was the injury sustained by Jennifer Fox who fractured her arm early in the game. We wish Jennifer a speedy recovery.
On Sunday the senior ladies opened their Ulster campaign with a fine win against Armagh champions Clann Eireann. The girls showed great character in the final quarter to dig out the two point win against the very talented and determined Lurgan side.
Next Sunday, the semi final will take place at Pairc Colmcille. Our opponents are Cavan champions Knockbride and we well remember the Ulster Final of 2003 when this side overturned Carmen. With the experience gained by the Cavan girls in the meantime, this is sure to be a very difficult assignment so a full turn out of our great support please for the 2:30 throw in.
At half time in the Ulster semi final the Under 10 girls will show their skills with an exhibition. We ask parents to be at Pairc Colmcille with their children in Club colours for the start of the game at 2:30.
