The reserves secured full points in impressive fashion on Sunday evening at Ballinamullan.
The win owed a great deal to Carmen`s midfield pair of Kevin McCartan and Fergal Gormley. McCartan was particularly effective in winning ball and anything he missed was swept up by the half backs of Paul Hughes, Kieran McCartan and Aidan Donnelly.
The crucial score came before half time when Brendan McCartan picked up the ball on the left wing 60 metres from goal; a brilliant solo effort saw him leave the defence in his wake and carry the ball to the 20 metre line from where he coolly planted the ball in the net, giving Carmen a level of comfort that never looked threatened. The final score 1-12 to 0-09.
